Heinz’s Regionally Inspired BBQ Sauces Review

Summer BBQ Grilling

We’re soaking up the last rays of summer by firing up the grille – granting us the perfect opportunity to post a Heinz BBQ Sauce review!

Grill It!

The back-to-school season may be upon us (say it ain’t so!), but that does not mean summer is over yet!  What better way to enjoy the last relaxing weeks of the season than with some summer grilling?  Our family loves to grill out, and with BBQ sauce being the universal favorite condiment on almost any entrée (chicken, pork, burgers, veggies), you better believe we were excited to sample and review the new options in the Heinz BBQ Sauce Pitmaster Collection!  They’ve got the perfect match for you, no matter what your palate might be craving.  But don’t skimp – get the variety pack and conduct your own taste-test (we did!).

Regionally Inspired

One of the things I love most about these Heinz BBQ sauces is that each one was inspired by a regional recipe.  And they were created by partnering with local pitmasters!  The result is that each recipe doesn’t just bear the name of its regional inspiration, but is spot-on with the flavors you’d expect.  Best of all, there’s no travel required to bring these flavors to your table.  And with the sample pack, everyone is sure to find their favorite!

Heinz BBQ Sauce Review

We were sent a sample pack of Heinz BBQ Sauce to test and review. It included the Texas Bold & Spicy, Memphis Sweet & Spicy, Kansas City Sweet & Smokey, and Carolina Tangy Vinegar Style.  My eldest daughter preferred the sweet smoke of Kansas City. But my younger daughter dug the hint of spice in the Memphis.  The husband and I both agreed that the bold heat of the Texas variety was our favorite.  The only one we would pass on was the Carolina Vinegar; though with its apple cider vinegar undertones, it is right up my mother’s alley.  In short, each bottle found a home with a different person!

Ready to find your fix?  Below you’ll find a blurb about a few of the Heinz BBQ sauce varieties, which we personally reviewed.  Also, we’ve listed the names of the pitmaster partners and included a link to a regionally inspired recipe.  Once you’ve sufficiently whetted your taste buds, enter the Heinz BBQ Pitmaster Collection GIVEAWAY below for your chance to win a sample variety pack!  Can’t wait that long?  Head to your local grocery store and pick them up today.  Your backyard BBQ, complete with Heinz sauces, some Homemade Cream Soda, and these Rolo Chocolate Chip Cookies, should be enough to ward off the back-to-school stress for at least a few extra hours.

A Heinz BBQ Sauce For Every Region

Texas: In Texas, there’s nothing shy about barbecue, and a great Texas style sauce means bold flavors and big personality. This sauce captures the very best of Texas BBQ; combining spices like cumin and chili powder for a sauce that’s bold and flavorful with just the right kick.  Pitmaster Partner: Robert Sierra of S&S Pit Crew competition barbecue team.  Regionally Inspired Recipe: BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwiches with Coleslaw.

☀ Memphis: Rock-n-Roll isn’t the only revolutionary combo courtesy of Memphis. The city’s barbecue also shakes things up. With sweet brown sugar and the flavors of the region’s traditional dry rubs, this is a sweet and spicy sauce that’s sure to please.  Pitmaster Partner: Dan Brown of Leonard’s PIT Barbecue.  Regionally Inspired Recipe: Memphis-Style Sweet and Spicy BBQ Chicken.

Kansas City: “Sweet and smoky” lends to the signature flavor profiles of this city’s sought-after barbecue. A thick Heinz sauce shadowed by a sweet tang takes traditional pit-style Kansas City BBQ up a crowd-pleasing notch.  Pitmaster Partner: Joe & Mike Pearce of Slap’s BBQ.  Regionally Inspired Recipe: Kansas City BBQ Ribs.

☀ Carolina Vinegar: Carolina is all about the traditions of whole-hog barbecue slow-cooked over wood coals. Meet a true Carolina style BBQ sauce.  It blends the tang of apple cider vinegar, with just the right balance of sweet and spice to make it the perfect addition to pulled pork.  Pitmaster Partner: Sam Jones of Skylight Inn.  Regionally Inspired Recipe: Carolina-Style BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders.
