Halloween is right around the corner and this adorable Spider Pizza is sure to please all the ghosts and ghouls in your house! The big candy day will be here before you can say “BOO!” My kids have been planning their costumes since last year. Since the movie “Frozen” debuted, really. I’m sure that they’ll be the only kids dressing up as Elsa and Ana this year. SHOCKER! I know.
Halloween Costumes
Despite my desperate attempts to convince them of the joys that come with being unique. And meticulous showing them the thousands of other options available to them (including but not limited to Mo Willem’s Pigeon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a flower, a robot, cupcakes, etc, etc), they’ve stood their ground. Truth be told, I didn’t really stand a chance. I was vastly outnumbered. Just as I thought I was gaining ground, Husband comes home from the store with their Frozen costumes. SURPRISE! I lose.
All is not lost, though. No matter the costume, I still get to rifle through their candy! Because, let’s be honest, as an adult, that’s the best part of Halloween –> kids’ candy.
Halloween Candy
And the worst part. Do you have any idea how many calories are in those teeny, tiny, delicious treats?! Don’t google it. It’ll just make you sad. Better to just assume the worst and ration harshly – yourself, not your kids. They’ll burn off those calories in an hour; whereas you will still be sweatin’ to the oldies come next Halloween. Though, if you want them to sleep, oh I don’t know, like EVER again, you’re right; you should probably ration them as well.
Spider Pizza
All those calories don’t have to come from candy, though. You could carb-overload with this adorable Spider Pizza!! They are so easy to make, kids LOVE them, & they’re perfect for a family dinner or rockin’ Halloween party. After making these a few times, I’ll let you in on a secret. To make creating the web very quick & easy, forgo the usual shredded mozzarella cheese & use string-cheese instead. Peel off longer strands of cheese & use them to form your web. They’ll retain their shape better when baked, too. And save you so much time!
Want a more upscale pizza experience? Use crumbled feta or goat cheese instead & replace the toy spider with one made from olives! Instantly, you’ll go from kid-favorite to adult-pleaser!
This creation was inspired by Women’s Day Magazine.
